Physiatry (PM&R)

A physical medicine and rehabilitation physician, also known as a physiatrist, is a medical doctor who specializes in restoring function, mobility, and quality of life for individuals with physical impairments, injuries, or disabling medical conditions. Physiatrists diagnose and manage musculoskeletal, neurologic, and functional disorders using non‑surgical treatments, including targeted therapies, medications, injections, and coordinated rehabilitation plans. Their focus is on improving strength, mobility, pain control, and independence, working closely with physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists across inpatient and outpatient settings.
