Oncology

An oncologist is a medical doctor who specializes in diagnosing, staging, and treating cancer. They evaluate tumors, interpret imaging and pathology results, and develop individualized treatment plans using chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, hormone therapy, and supportive care. Oncologists guide patients through every phase of cancer care—from initial diagnosis and treatment to survivorship and long‑term monitoring. Many work closely with surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and palliative care teams to provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary cancer management. Their role includes managing treatment side effects, coordinating complex care, and supporting patients and families throughout the cancer journey.
