Neuropsychology

A neuropsychologist is a doctoral‑level clinician who specializes in understanding how brain function affects cognition, behavior, and emotional regulation. They use comprehensive, standardized testing to evaluate memory, attention, language, problem‑solving, processing speed, and other cognitive abilities. Neuropsychologists diagnose cognitive disorders, identify the effects of neurologic or psychiatric conditions on thinking skills, and provide detailed reports that guide medical treatment, rehabilitation planning, academic or workplace accommodations, and legal evaluations. Their assessments help clarify the nature and extent of cognitive impairment and differentiate between neurologic, psychiatric, developmental, and functional causes.
