Neuro-Ophthalmology

A neuro‑ophthalmologist is a medical doctor who specializes in conditions where the nervous system and visual system intersect. They evaluate visual problems caused by disorders of the brain, optic nerves, and eye‑movement pathways rather than diseases originating in the eye itself. Neuro‑ophthalmologists perform detailed neurologic and ophthalmic examinations, interpret advanced imaging and visual‑function testing, and diagnose complex conditions involving vision loss, double vision, abnormal eye movements, and neurologic symptoms affecting sight. Their work often involves multidisciplinary collaboration with neurology, neurosurgery, radiology, and ophthalmology.
